New York Wing Joint SLS/CLC Weekend @ Vaughn College
Mar 3 – Mar 4 all-day
ALCON,
The New York Wing will be hosting a joint SLS/CLC training weekend on 03-04 Mar  at Vaughn College in Queens across from LaGuardia Airport (see attached flyers).  You may register for one of the two course offerings.  Please complete a CAPF 17, have your unit commander approve and sign it, and forward it to the course co-directors listed below.  Please register ASAP, as seating is very limited and we expect a strong turnout.  We will maintain a waiting list and will try to accommodate as many students as we can.  The registration deadline is 26 Feb.
SQUADRON LEADERSHIP SCHOOL (SLS) is designed to enhance officers’ performance at the squadron level, and to increase their understanding of the basic function and operations of a squadron.  Prerequisites are completion of Level I and enrollment in a specialty track.
CORPORATE LEARNING COURSE (CLC) is designed to explain how a wing operates in CAP’s major mission elements and how mission support functions support these elements. Armed with this knowledge, senior members can learn how they and their respective units can best support the wing and fulfill the corporate role of CAP.
For more information and to register, please contact the following course co-directors:
Lt Col Jacqui Sturgess (sirennyc@aol.com)
1st Lt Rachel Silverberg (rachel.silverberg.clnc@gmail.com)

Aircraft Accident/Mass Casualty Drill @ LaGuardia Airport
Jun 9 @ 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

We have received an invitation for the Squadron to attend and participate in an Aircraft Accident/Mass Casualty Drill scheduled to be conducted Saturday, 9 June 2018 at LaGuardia Airport, Queens, NY.  Our personnel would have the chance to observe, up close, just how full-time, first responders and other agencies perform in response to a major passenger aircraft accident involving mass casualties at a busy airport.

As participants, our personnel would be portraying “victims” of the staged disaster, having Hollywood-style, special effects make-up applied, simulating various types and degrees of injuries that would likely sustained by persons on board and on the ground near a “downed” aircraft.  The drill will involve an actual commercial aircraft.

Should we choose to participate in this drill we would need to stage at LaGuardia Airport by 0700 hours on Saturday, 9 June 2018
